liulin.jpgD'Addario announced the signing of Beijing guitar virtuoso, Liu Lin, to its artist roster. As one of the foremost musicians hailing from his native country of China, guitarist Liu Lin's appeal and versatility has taken him from studio sessions to live concert venues around the globe. He has performed with orchestras in both China and United States - from the China National Symphony Orchestra to the Chicago Symphony and Cincinnati Pops orchestra (under the direction of conductor Erich Kunzel)and served as bandleader for Kongfu movie star Jackie Chan's charity benefit concerts in 2005-2006.

In 2004, Liu formed China Magpie as part of Yo-Yo Ma's "Silk Road" project. The four-member ensemble has appeared in many of the world's major concert halls and festivals, as well as on the 2007 Silk Road Ensemble CD release, New Impossibilities, on Sony BMG Masterworks. With no musical boundaries, China Magpie's repertoire presents a unique mix of ancient Chinese folk music and different styles of Western music from classical to rock. Their energetic performance style is rhythmically driven, with fiery improvisation. The group is scheduled to perform at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Lin is one of D'Addario's newest artist endorsers, but in reality, he's been using D'Addario strings for over 25 years. "These strings are magnificent and are the soul of [my] performances," Lin raves. "D'Addario never lets me down, and they are my favorite!"

"With all eyes pointed towards China with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games about to begin, we are honored to have one of the country's finest instrumentalists on our artist roster," says D'Addario's Hugh Gilmartin, Artist Relations Manager, "Liu Lin exemplifies the consummate musician and performer that we as a company are proud to be affiliated with."
